Coaching with Frank
A space to work on something that’s on your mind right now: a decision, a new role, a goal that keeps getting pushed back.
I’m currently training as a systemic coach at artop (an institute affiliated with Humboldt University Berlin). I’m collecting practice hours for the certification, so I coach without a fee. What I ask in return: honest feedback and your consent to document our sessions anonymously for my training.

What coaching means here
You bring the topic, and we work on it together. I don’t hand out ready-made answers. I ask questions, offer perspectives and methods, and you decide what fits.
Systemic means we look not only at you but at the context a topic comes from: team, organisation, family, other people’s expectations. Often something shifts once those connections become visible.
Leading engineering teams, I’ve measured my success mostly by how the people around me grow. Coaching comes from the same place for me, whether in a team or one-on-one. Everything stays confidential, and you can stop at any time if it isn’t working for you.
More about my path
From a steel mill into leadership
My path hasn't been a straight line. After training as an industrial electrician, I spent around eight years at a steel mill, from building up the plant to maintaining it. I completed my Abitur, Germany's university entrance qualification, alongside work through the second-chance education route.
At Native Instruments I started in technical support and grew into leadership via quality assurance: first as a team lead, then as one of the company's first engineering managers, and finally leading several software and hardware teams. Over almost twenty years I hired many people, supported them and watched them grow into new roles. I also went through phases where reorganisations and leadership changes were the real challenge, and the job was to keep teams together.
A second life in music
Alongside all this there was always a second life: I've been DJing and producing electronic music since the early 90s, until around 2015 so intensively that at times it partly paid my living. In Berlin, I co-founded the event series Killekill with two others and helped run it for many years before eventually stepping away. I still run my studio today.
From that time I know what it's like to carry a steady job and creative work side by side, to build something with others, and to eventually let it go again.
What I bring
I bring this experience into coaching as understanding, not as advice. I know many situations first-hand: stepping into a new role, leading between team and management, career transitions. You'll still find the answers yourself. My job is to ask good questions along the way.
I'm also a trained instructor in Wing Tsun and QiGong.
Topics that work well
- A career decision you’re weighing
- Growing into a new role or more responsibility
- A goal you’ve been putting off for a while
- A change you’re in the middle of
- Communication or conflict at work
- Too much at once, no clear priority
Coaching isn’t therapy. For clinical or psychological topics a different setting is the right one, and I’d rather say that upfront.
